(FIDE RATED)

INVITATION
The Ghana Chess Association under the auspices of the National Sports Authority is inviting chess clubs in schools, communities and institutions all over the country to participate in this year’s Team Chess Championships.

PARTICIPATION CRITERIA AND TEAM COMPOSITION
 Only registered and paid up clubs may participate in this championship (annual affiliation fee is Ghc 200.00)
 Clubs may present additional teams to be accepted on application subject to a maximum of three teams per club.
 Only players with FIDE IDs may be registered for this tournament
 A team shall comprise of 4 players and two reserves at most
 Team composition for each round should consist of players of both sexes
 With this arrangement, board two and three are reserved for female and male players respectively Teams that do not meet this requirement shall continually loose on that particular board.
 Board order shall be in descending order, according to the latest FIDE ratings of players in the team.

TOURNAMENT REGULATION AND TIE BREAK
The championships will be played in accordance with FIDE regulations on a 7-Round Swiss System basis in a time control of 20 minutes.
A won match shall count as 2 points to the winning team a drawn match shall count as 1 point.
The position of teams that finish with the same number of match points shall be determined by application of the following tie-break procedures, in sequence.
a. By the game points
b. By the result of the matches between teams in contention.
c. By the sum of match points of all the opponents

PRIZES
1. The overall winning team shall be awarded the trophy and cash prize to be announced.
2. Players of the top three ranked teams shall be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals respectively
3. Individual Board Prizes- Players assigned to the same board number in their respective team lists shall be in competition with each other for individual board medals. For the purpose of this award, only board 1 to 4 players who take part in at least 60% of the rounds and a reserve player who takes part in at least 40% shall be eligible for prizes.

REGISTRATION
The closing date for entries is 4th November, 2018. This date is the registration deadline.

Club officials will be required to pay a participation fee of GHC 150.00 per team upon submission of completed registration forms to the GCA Treasurer, Edward Sosu (0243768516).
Late registration/ payment attracts a penalty of GHC 50.
