IM ANQUANDAH WINS ALISA ELITE TOURNAMENT
International Master Francis Anquandah who had just returned from the African Individual Championships in Namibia showed his class again as he emerged winner of the Alisa Elite Tournament held on the 24th of December 2014 at Alisa Hotel in Accra.
Alisa Chess Club, winners of National Inter-Club Championships organized by the GCA, reserved the tournament for their top six best players. They played a 5 round, Swiss Round-Robin event with 45mins time control per player per game.
Other invited players included current Ghana National Champion John Hasford, CM Edward Thompson, Philip Ameku, Kojo Bonsu and Lloyd Ankrah.
The Vice-President of the Ghana Chess Association, Mr. Ameku, lauded the initiative and also encouraged other Clubs to organize events of such nature to ensure their players remain in top form. He was also very thankful to Mr. Lloyd Ankrah, a former Chairman of the Ghana Chess Association and the patron of the Club for sponsoring whole event.
