OCHUKO EMMANUEL WINS 5th PRESIDENT’S CUP

Nigerian chess player, ochuko Emmanuel took home the star prize of US$700 when he came out tops in the 5th President’s Cup Chess Championships which came to an end on 5th July, 2015 at the Thoedosia Oko Hockey Stadium.

The 5 day, 9-round swiss event saw his compatriot, David Erhabor placing second ahead of Hermann Manan from Ivory Coast.

IM Francis Anquandah and CM Joseph Jamena ended the event as the top placed local players whilst Ofowino Toritsemuwa from Nigeria won the best ladies’ prize. The junior event saw Argawal Devyansh and Marian Farmmer taking away gold medals and USD 100 each in the male and female categories respectively.
