REPORT ON NIGEL SHORT’S VISIT TO GHANA
During his two day stay in Ghana, Nigel Short held meetings with the executive council of the Ghana Chess Association to discuss the way forward for development of chess in Ghana, He also paid a courtesy call on the British High Commissioner and also held a meeting with the Director General of the National Sports Authority.
He then conducted a 3-hour training session for both professional and amateur chess players in Ghana at African Regent hotel and also played a simultaneous exhibition against 20 players where he recorded a perfect score of 20/20.
Nigel was also kind enough to do a one hour TV interview on a GTV sports program. He concluded his tour by presenting 600 new chess sets donated by KCF Africa to the GCA during the opening ceremony of the 5th President’s Cup tournament.
KCF wishes to thank African Regent Hotel in Accra who were kind enough to accommodate Nigel during his visit and also made their excellent facilities available for the training session.
