PHASE ONE (QUALIFIERS)
👉🏾Dates: 1-3 December 2023
👉🏾Venue: Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, Ridge-Accra
👉🏾Start Time 9am
👉🏾Format: 9 round FIDE RATED Swiss open to all
OPEN (Top 5 FIDE Rated players as of 1st December, 2023 are exempted from this phase)
WOMEN (The only 3 active ladies on the FIDE ranking list are exempted from this phase)
PHASE TWO (FINALS)
OPEN
👉🏾Format: Top 5 from phase one clash with top 5 from the FIDE ratings list to play a 10 player round robin event.
WOMEN
👉🏾Format: Top 7 from phase one clash with the only 3 active ladies on the FIDE ratings list to play a 10 player round robin event.
Substitutions will be based on the next-in-line policy.
Entry fee: GHS200 for GCA Paid-up members, GHS150 for women and players u-18; GHS 250 for all others
TITLES
- Winner of the OPEN section will be declared the 2023 National Chess Champion 🇬🇭
- Winner of the Women only section will be declared the 2023 National Women’s Chess Champion.🇬🇭
The top 5 players in both Categories will constitute the National Chess Team🇬🇭 (The Golden Knights) for the world Chess Olympiad🌍 and the African Games.
