GHANA’S CHESS TEAM HEADS FOR KENYA
Ghana Chess Association, after successfully hosting the African Youth Chess Championships has sent a delegation to another continental event dubbed Africa Schools Individual Championships hosted in Kenya from 12-20th December, 2021.
<h3>Team Ghana in Kenya</h3>
A strong team of top juniors were escorted to the Kotoka International Airport by members of the Ghana Chess Association on 12<sup>th</sup> December, 2021 accompanied by the chess Federation president and two other officials.
The ten nation event features players from Botswana, Nigeria, Uganda, South Africa, Malawi, Sudan, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and hosts Kenya. To be playing in 10 different age categories for boys and girls.
Ghana will be represented in the U-7 age category by Jeshurun Obiri Yeboah and Jeddidiah Nana Acheampong. Defending Champion, Dave Chief Quansah Acheampong will represent Ghana in the Under 9 category, U-11 and U-13 age categories by Mawutor Richardson and Mawuli Richardson respectively.

<p style="text-align: justify; background: none; vertical-align: baseline; margin: 0in 0in 15.0pt 0in;">According to the President of the Ghana Chess Association, the tournament presents a unique opportunity to make the country proud after recent successes chalked by the Association. He also expressed gratitude to the Honorable Minister of Youth and Sports for heeding to their call for support for the team.</p>
