GHANA’S CHESS TEAM HEADS FOR TOGO

Ghana Chess Association has sent a delegation to participate in the 2022 Zone 4.2 Chess Championships hosted in Togo from 19-27th March, 2022.

The GCA sponsors Ghanaian delegation which comprises:

  • Philip Ameku FA, FI (GCA and Zone 4.2 President.
  • Dr. Kwabena Adu-Poku (2021 National Champion) and
  • Maud Benson ( 2021 National Silver Medalist)

to compete in the 2022 Zone 4.2 Chess Championships.

Others playing under the Ghana flag include:

  • IM Francis Anquandah
  • Attade Josias Prosper
  • Tossa Thierry Ulrich

The delegates arrived in Togo yesterday to have a good rest in preparation for the tournament which starts today @3pm.

According to the President of the Ghana Chess Association, the tournament presents a unique opportunity to make the country increase its overall average rating, gain some international playing experience for our players and also bring home some titles. He is currently with the delegates to provide support and boost their morale.
